The Flip-Step™ is a simple device,
which slides and locks into the receiver hitch of your truck, suv,
and van. The Flip-Step™ is a strong aluminum device
that not only serves as a slip resistant and durable step to help
you gain access to the higher areas of your vehicle, but as a 3rd
(or 4th) LED brake/running light as well.
How to Operate
To operate, all you have to do is release the latch near the top
and the brake light assembly rotates down to serve as the stepping
portion. That’s it.
Installation
Installation is a snap too. Simply connect the three wires coming
from the back of the Flip-Step™ unit to the supplied
standard 4-prong, flat trailer connector. Connect the wires with
the supplied snap connectors slide the Flip-Step™
unit into your receiver hitch and secure. Lastly plug the trailer
plug from the Flip-Step™ into your trailer light
harness and you are all set.

The Flip-Step™ is designed as a functional accessory
step and lighting system for your vehicle only, and is not intended
to replace any factory or DOT approved equipment or lighting. On
some vehicles the Flip-Step™ light may flash when
the left turn signal is activated. This is normal for the
Flip-Step™ as it receives the brake light signal
from the left vehicle brake/turn signal (yellow wire). If desired,
it can be stopped by wiring the yellow wire on the Flip-Step™
(brake light) directly to the vehicle’s brake light circuit
and not the trailer connector, or installing a “trailer light
converter”. If desired to have both turn signals cause the
Flip-Step™ light to flash, the green wire on the
4-flat connector must also be used and a 50v 1 amp diode installed
to the green wire and yellow wires, and both connected to the yellow
wire of the Flip-Step™.
The 4-flat plug connector supplied with the Flip-Step™
is the most common trailer wiring connector. However, if your vehicle
has a different style connector, it may be necessary to purchase
an adapter to convert the 4-flat to your style connector, or wire
the step directly to your vehicle wiring.
Note: An advantage to the Flip-Step™
light flashing during the signal mode, is that it will also flash
when the emergency flashers are activated, giving your vehicle increased
visibility when most needed.
